Bio
I’m a video editor with over twelve years experience, seven of those working freelance. I've worked on feature documentaries, short form and series. I’m confident working across a variety of genres including documentary, factual entertainment, branded content, commercials.
In 2023 I was an editor on the CBeebies series I Can Do It You Can Too. In 2022 I was Lead Editor on the Snap Originals series A Fighting Chance with Anthony Joshua, winner of a Broadcast award. I worked closely with director, production team, and client, along with three other editors, to deliver an eight part series for the Snapchat app. In 2020 I edited 512 Hours, a feature documentary that was broadcast on Sky Arts. In 2019 I edited the feature length Barbican Mixtape, which was screened at The Barbican Centre in celebration of the Barbican Estate’s 50th Anniversary.
I am a skilled storyteller, and I try to bring an economy and elegance to whatever I’m working on, matched with a visual flair. I'm adept at working quickly and independently on a project, finding the narrative threads within a set of rushes while retaining a project's overarching theme or brief. Equally I can work from clearly set out story structures or beat sheets and am happy to work side-by-side with a director, producer or even a client in the edit. I've done lot's of work on interview-based films but have also worked with more hybrid and looser forms of storytelling. I love putting pictures together to see what happens and I edit footage most days, even when I'm not working!
I've worked on numerous tasters for the major broadcasters as well as a documentary proof-of-concept funded by Amazon Studios and documentaries for Open University. I even edited an English Rugby podcast, which was nominated for a Sport Podcast of the Year at the Broadcast Sport Awards. Equally I'm well versed in re-versioning edits for socials, teasers, as well as adding subtitles and voiceover. I work on Premiere and Avid. I can work remotely from home but also have a portable laptop setup.
I also make short, sometimes irreverent, experimental films about landscape and place. They can be watched at: jackwormell.com
