Bio
I am a student film editor, with experience in working on short films, corporate promotional films and montage content. My experience has been gained through my extended diploma in media tech and production with the BAM organisation through SGS college, Bristol, but also through gaining placements on two BFI courses and taking on some personal projects. Through this experience I have work in most areas of film production, from the preproduction documentation to the on set production and of course post production. My editing work is primarily in Adobe Premiere Pro, but I have had experience with Avid media composer.
I am looking for any opportunity to take on editing projects to build on my portfolio. I am incredibly passionate about film editing, I particularly enjoy syncing footage with music to improve the story telling of the film.
Here is some feedback I received from my BFI courses:
BFI Short documentary course 2023 (October - December)
Kyle brought a calm and considered energy to the group and engaged well with other team members, offering solutions and ideas both in pre production and post. In their role as editor, Kyle showed great capability and commitment, working well alongside the co-editor during the editing session, and sharing work happily with the rest of the team. Kyle was great on set, available and happy to help with whatever is needed, including boom for our sound recordist.
Holly Black, Visual Artist/ Filmmaker. (Black Bark Films).
Kyle Gable - Editor
I had the pleasure of tutoring Kyle when he participated in the BFI youth Academy, delivered by the NFTS, during March and April 2024, where he edited the short film "Ghosted". Kyle has a very good understanding of story structure and engaged well in discussions on the script. On set, he acted as Script Supervisor and did a great job, taking detailed, attentive notes, which served him well in the edit. He was given the very difficult task of editing a short film in two days, as well as getting to grips with complex and professional editing software in Avid, and he took on this challenge with quiet determination, never complaining or backing away from the challenge. As a result he grasped the technology exceptionally quickly. I was very impressed by how confident and coherent the editing was from the first cut, the storytelling in "Ghosted" is precise and compelling, and that is largely down to the editor's fine work.
