Bio

Stephen Perkins’s young life was steeped in animation and art.
His father, a professional 2D animator, taught him everything
there was to know about the craft of hand-drawn animation. At
university, Steve earned a degree in fine arts with an emphasis
on sculpture and interactive art. It was his interest in the latter,
with its mix of visual arts and cutting-edge technology, that guided
Steve to London’s reinvigorated world of stop-motion animation and
ultimately the editing suite. In 2009, Steve earned a credit as Editor
for Wes Anderson’s critically acclaimed film The Fantastic Mr. Fox.
Continuing to hone his skills over the next several years, he earned
editing credits on a mix of live-action and stop-motion films including
Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie, Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest
Hotel, Sarah Gavron’s Suffragette and in 2015 moved to the U.S.A.
to work as lead editor on Chris Butler's Missing Link with LAIKA.
After four years he returned to his roots in the U.K. reuniting with
Wes Anderson on the live-action feature film The French Dispatch
and has now returned to his first love of animation and is working
with Aardman on Chicken Run 2.
