Bio
I am a highly experienced editor with many films to my credit in multiple genres over the course of my career.
Having started off in the commercials world in Soho, London, I’ve worked on a wide variety of shows from Sports Shows, Factual Ent, Travel, Music docs and lots of Natural History. In short, I’m comfortable with any programme format.
Many of these films have been award winners and I was honoured to have been one of the BAFTA award winning editing team that cut Frozen Planet for the BBC.
Fast, decisive and fun to be with, I love teamwork and the art of storytelling. I am thoroughly proficient with Avid, FCP7 and the Adobe CC family, happy to use whatever tool is best for the project.
If I don’t answer the phone immediately, Leave a message, or you can probably find me wandering around the Somerset countryside with my Wire Haired Vizla and Teckel.
TESTIMONIALS
I've just worked with Andy, cutting two episodes of Discovery's hit show "Marooned with Ed Stafford". Andy is a fab editor and producer - diligent, creative, fast and on-the-button. He takes rushes and turns them into watchable and gripping telly, drawing out stories that don't always appear on first inspection but making them coherent and interesting. He's a pleasure to work with in the cutting room, creating a fun and enjoyable atmosphere and his wealth of experience working across numerous genres means you always feel in a very safe pair of hands - he can work collaboratively and alone, and whichever route always produces fab results.
Tim Walker - Series Producer, Tigress Productions.
I have known and worked with Andrew for many years, both at the BBC NHU and as a freelancer. Andrew is one of the most creative editors I have had the pleasure to work with. He has huge experience of all genres of wildlife films, from Live and Presenter-led to Blue-chip and Diary, and has been responsible for helping to create many formats that are now mainstream. Extremely fast and technically adept on any platform, Andrew is capable of giving you the most precious of commodities in the edit - time, creative input and a focus on story. He is joy to work with and one of the very best!
Simon Nash - Producer, Silverback Productions.
Andrew Chastney is an extremely talented and experienced editor who brings his track record as an accomplished Producer/Director with him. He has a finely honed understanding of narrative and a truly creative sensibility. He cuts quickly, decisively and with style. He has a very good ‘ear’ for writing commentary and gets the tone of the film very quickly. Andy is an editor with a broad musical taste and works hard to find the right music for the project. He is very self-motivated and brilliant as an edit producer working alone but is also highly collaborative. And, very importantly, he is a really easy person to spend time with!
Simon Davies - SP/PD, Tigress Productions.
